Drug Charges
If you are caught using, selling, manufacturing, or possessing drugs or drug paraphernalia, you can be charged with a crime. Understanding your drug charge isn’t always easy. For example, there are five different degrees of controlled substance charges. There are also separate charges related to methamphetamines, and simulated controlled substances.
Drug Manufacturing
A drug manufacturing charge can be leveled against anyone who makes illegal drugs, or harvests and cultivates plants that could be used for illegal drugs. Whether you are manufacturing for personal use, or if you intend to sell, you can face the same harsh penalties. Even if you have a few marijuana plants growing in your backyard, you can be charged with a serious drug crime.
Drug Possession
Drug possession is a relatively common crime in the state of Minnesota. There is a wide range of charges for drug possession, and the penalties for a conviction are just as varied. If you are convicted of drug possession, you may be sentenced to jail time, large fines, and permanent strikes against you.
Drug Sale
If you are caught selling drugs, or even suspected of dealing, you will most likely face felony charges. In many cases, a drug sale charge will be accompanied by a drug possession charge. When either of these charges is present, you can face long jail time, and very heavy fines.
