Jason Brown is a shareholder with Barna, Guzy & Steffen, Ltd. He is a Qualified Neutral under Rule 114 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice, and has been repeatedly recognized as a Super Lawyer in the area of family law by Thomson Reuters. Given his unique qualifications, Jason has also served as a court-appointed early neutral evaluator and family court moderator in Hennepin, Anoka, Sherburne and Wright County.

Jason has represented a wide variety of family law clients over the last 20 years, including teachers, homemakers, union construction workers, doctors, truck drivers, accountants, business owners, engineers, mortgage brokers and Fortune 500 executives. Many of his cases have involved custody disputes, alimony claims, and high net worth individuals, including several divorces in which the value of the marital estate exceeded ten million dollars. In addition to his work as a lawyer, Jason provides mediation services for family court litigants.

Jason is the former chairperson of the Family Law Section of the Minnesota Trial Lawyer’s Association, and taught divorce and family law coursework within the paralegal program at North Hennepin Community College. He is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars, including presentations for the Minnesota Judicial Branch, Minnesota Family Law Institute, Minnesota CLE, Hennepin County Bar Association, Ramsey County Bar Association and the Tenth Judicial District.

Jason publishes the Minnesota Family Law Blog, which has been recognized as a “Top 25″ by the Minnesota State Bar Association and authors a monthly family law column for the Minnesota Lawyer newspaper.

Jason obtained his B.S., magna cum laude, from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and his J.D., cum laude, from the William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul. After graduation, he served as a law clerk the Honorable Timothy R. Bloomquist, retired Chief Judge of Minnesota’s Tenth Judicial District.
